Are people equal to corporations?

Is the young lady entitled to receive the items specified in the written agreement?

Yes - People and Corporations should be able to enter into mutually agreed to relationships and be bound by those agreements.
No - Corporations always get to dictate the terms of employment

Mitt Romney told us corporations are people.  Do you believe corporations deserve more rights under the law than people?  Let’s find out by examining your thoughts on this scenario.

Romney.PNGA young woman has been working at a business during her first three years of college.  The manager of another corporation notices her good work and promises her $2.00 more an hour to work for the corporation.  The woman explicitly tells the manager that she schedules her college classes for Monday, Wednesday and Friday and cannot work on these days.  The manager drafts up an agreement stating the hourly wage and the schedule will be Tuesday, Wednesday and Saturday from 9 to 5 and there will be no work scheduled on Mondays, Wednesdays or Fridays.  The agreement closes with the stipulation that this employment is at will meaning that either party can terminate the employment relationship at any time.

After six months the manager starts scheduling the young lady only on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.  The young lady reminds the manager she has school on these days and their agreement explicitly states her work week will be Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturday.  She asks the manager if the corporation intends to fire her.  The answer is no. She drafts a letter relaying that she expects the corporation to live up to the terms of the written agreement.  She continues to show up to work on the days specified in the agreement.  After one pay period she has a lawyer send the corporation a letter demanding the corporation live up to the terms of the agreement.  After the second pay period she files a lawsuit against the corporation.

Since the company did not choose to fire the young lady, is she entitled to receive the items specified in the written agreement?
