Though I am more in favor of eliminating parties and their special access to the election process, I have thought about creating a party called the Ohio Party. I think the name would have appeal and we could get candidates just for that reason. The basis of the party would just to allow an equal access to the ballot, perhaps some campaign education like how to set up a fund raising sight or ensure your petitions are good, and no official party position on issues, i.e. every candidate is responsible for defining their own platform.

Eliminate Political Parties
The reason there is so much bitterness in politics today is because getting people elected is a lucrative business. There are many professionals making a living off the donations given within the two party system. These people know they will get more donations if they can make people angry at the other party.Currently, the Ohio revised code provides state resources that work to promote hate. We can reduce the animosity with a change in the law that prevents the state from providing funds to pay for partisan primaries. We can also promote the election of well qualified candidates by eliminating references on the general election ballot that show party affiliation and incumbency. Eliminating the special privileges enjoyed by the parties can easily be done by the State Legislature. If you get a chance to talk with your representative, bring up this plan with them. You can also share this post through social media or email. If you have a few extra dollars. Let me know you agree and I should keep up the fight.
Stop using public funds to pay for partisan primaries
Eliminate party affiliation on ballots
No incumbent designation on the ballots
Make political organizations pay taxes
